Waterblooms

 

Photographed from below the water surface, the female protagonist swirls in drapery and light to create underwater abstractions, these shapes resemble aquatic flowers. 

 

‘The swirling and ethereal swaying of a nocturnal dance, a timeless and rhythmic gauzy dream’ from the artist’s journal.

 

The Water Blooms series was filmed in Manly and Garie Beach over a two-year period. All images were made with 35mm film and are mostly printed full frame with minimal crop.  The exhibition was launched at the opening of the annual Manly Arts Festival.
